Turbo HD Gold By DISH Network

Dish Network just released fresh programming packages called TurboHD. These packages are all HD, leaving out all of the standard definition channels. Is DISH TurboHD the best choice for you?

It all depends on what your looking for from your cable or satellite television company. Some folks want every single channel that is available. It doesn't matter to them that 10 of them are jewelry shopping channels, or that five of the channels are public access. They just want all of the channels.

Other though, have become weary of trying to wade past all of the junk on the television dial, looking for something worthwhile to watch. For consumers who have recently bought a new HDTV, TurboHD from DISH Network may be the perfect solution.

There are three different options with TurboHD are the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. All of these packages are made up of HD channels only. Pricing starts at about $24.99 per month for the entry level package. That bundle does not include your local channels, which cost more per month.

DISH Network also offers the Platinum level, which is an add-on service to the Gold, Silver, and Bronze packages. The Platinum level is per month, and includes seven more HD channels such as MGM HD and Universal HD.

One sticking point with some current DISH Network customers is they have not been allowed to switch over to the less expensive TurboHD packages. Currently only new subscribers to DISH Network have been allowed to get the TurboHD packages. Existing customers can get TurboHD, but only as an addition to the standard package they already have.

A final consideration you should know about is how DISH Network is counting the channels included in the packages. Take for example the Turbo HD Bronze setup which includes 44 channels, but of those 24 are network channels, six are pay-per-view, and 14 are video-on-demand channels. For some, that number would be adequate others are used to having quite a bit more content to choose from. A final consideration, none of the TurboHD levels include movie packages like Starz or Showtime, so expect to pay more for commercial free channels like that.
